I’m Teacher Amy!

I’m the founder and owner! Little Oaks is something I have built with my whole heart. My vision was to create a fun, creative and loving space where little ones feel free to explore, imagine, get messy, make wonderful memories and discover the world around them through play. I wanted to create a place where little imaginations could flourish, little personalities could shine, and their childhood could be filled with a magical play adventure.

I have thoughtfully developed the Little Oaks curriculum around this vision, creating a play-based experience that gives little ones the freedom to dive into their creativity, immerse themselves in imaginative play, explore new interests, grow in confidence and learn as they go. Every day brings opportunities to create, experiment, get wonderfully messy and make sense of the world in their own little way.

I hold a Bachelor of Business Science degree from the University of Cape Town and went on to complete my postgraduate studies in Early Childhood Development and Foundation Phase through UNISA, graduating cum laude. My studies, professional experience and years spent working with little ones have shaped my approach to teaching and the care I put into creating a meaningful, play-based experience for every child at Little Oaks.

My journey as a school owner began with my own play school in Sea Point, before I brought my vision to life here in Constantia in 2022, opening the doors to Little Oaks. Building this school has been such a personal journey, and it means a great deal to see the little community we have created here.

After welcoming my baby boy, our little team has grown and evolved as we welcomed Teacher Loulah to Little Oaks. I am looking forward to this new chapter as owner, principal, and mom!

There is nothing more important to me than creating a space where your little one feels safe, loved, and truly at home.

Little Oaks is a very special part of my life, and I feel incredibly lucky to have built a school around something I believe in so wholeheartedly.

Hello!

I’m Teacher Loulah!

I’m a passionate teacher with over 11 years of experience and a love for creativity.

I joined Little Oaks in 2026 during Amy’s maternity leave, stepping into the classroom as the little ones’ teacher and taking on the day-to-day rhythm of the school and the team. During this time, I have had the opportunity to fully immerse myself in the Little Oaks environment and curriculum, building beautiful connections with the children and becoming a steady and loving presence in their daily play adventure.

With many years of experience working with little ones across the 2-3 and 4-5 year age groups, including time in leadership roles within the classroom, I bring a confident, warm, and engaging approach to each day. I love creating a space where children feel comfortable exploring, expressing themselves, and taking part in the creativity around them.

My favourite part of the day is morning ring! I love bringing everyone together through music, singing, stories and books – it’s such a lovely time to connect, have fun and start our day together.

I trained through the Centre for Creative Education, completing both my Level 4 and Level 5 in Early Childhood Development. My approach is rooted in a strong understanding of how young children learn through play, with a focus on creativity, imagination, and building confidence in each little one.

I am so happy to be continuing as part of the Little Oaks team, to carry forward the care, consistency, and special feeling that makes this school what it is.

Meet Irene!

Irene has been part of the Little Oaks family since 2023, joining us in the early days of our journey and becoming such a valued and integral part of our team. As our Teacher Assistant, she plays an important role in supporting the children, setting up activities, overseeing their care, and helping our little school run smoothly.

With previous experience working as a nanny, Irene brings a genuine understanding of the care, patience and attention little ones need. She has completed a Child Care and Development course through Sugar & Spice Nanny Training and is trained in CPR & First Aid through Safe Kids. Her experience has given her a lovely appreciation for the little things that matter, from playtime, creativity, and routine to creating a safe and secure space where children feel cared for. Our little ones absolutely adore her, and she has formed such special bonds with each of them.

Irene also runs our morning care and aftercare, where her kind, friendly, professional nature and dependable presence make such a difference to the children and families. She is hardworking, flexible and always ready to take the initiative or lend a helping hand wherever she is needed. Her patience, thoughtfulness and unwavering reliability are qualities we appreciate more than words can say. 

Irene is one of those one-of-a-kind people who you know you can always count on. She gives so much of herself to Little Oaks, and the care she brings to her work does not go unnoticed. I am incredibly grateful to have had her by my side since those early days, and I truly cannot imagine our team without her.

Meet Miah!

Miah joined the Little Oaks family in 2024 and has become such an important part of our team. She is one of those special people who is always ready to step in, take initiative and lend a hand.

Miah takes such pride in everything she does, keeping our classroom neat, organised and looking its best. Her wonderful attention to detail means she knows exactly when a toy is missing or something is out of place! She also plays a valued role in assisting Irene with preparing activities and supporting the children throughout their day, always approaching everything with a big Miah smile!

Above all, Miah has a heart of gold. She is gentle, patient and incredibly caring with the children, who absolutely adore her. Her constant smile, warm nature and willingness to help wherever she is needed make such a difference to our school. She is hardworking, dependable and always keen to learn and grow.

I am incredibly grateful for all that Miah does for Little Oaks and for the kind, loving care she gives our little ones each day.
